JMT Part II

Day 4: Devils Postpile to Deer Creek, 9 miles.
Day 5: Deer Creek to Cascade Valley Junction, 12.3 miles.
Day 6: Cascade Valley Junction via Silver Pass to Edison Lake, 11.8 miles.
Day 7: Rest at Vermilion Valley Resort

Did a side hike to the top of Devil's Postpile - totally pointless.  Looked like someone took pavers to the top of the mountain, should have just looked at it from the normal trail.  Stopped in Red's Meadow for lunch and beer... amazing.  Hiked through a previously burnt forest in the mist, very dramatic!  But difficult after the beer.  Deer creek was lovely.  Stopped at Purple Lake the next day, but should have stopped at the next one because it was WAY prettier.  Stopped at both :)  Met a pack of boy scouts with one Jew.  Camped at Cascade Valley junction and had a great bonfire.  Silver pass was misleading but beautiful, and all the lakes were huge and crystal clear.  Met a sweet old couple who dubbed us the Sierra Sisters and followed us on the trail to Vermilion in addition to the hordes of hopeful mountain men (haha).  Walked across the dried up lake to a spot where we could get picked up in a little metal boat, and spent the next day nursing our blisters and eating delicious overpriced food.  Overall it was great.
